Elle Andrews - Photographer & Artist Educator
I am committed to making arts education accessible to all. I manage the Learning and Access programme at Frameless, a new, immersive, multisensory art experience in London. I have developed their outreach programme, working both with mainstream and SEND schools/providers, producing teaching resources and establishing their accessible programme for disabled visitors.
I teach for The Photographers' Gallery as the lead facilitator of their EPQ Qualification, which supports young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to undertake a UCAS recognised qualification. I have designed and delivered the curriculum model for this pilot project, which has been a huge success, with a 100% pass rate every year, and substantially higher than average number of A and A* results. I also design and deliver workshops for their Develop Programme, Teacher CPD and adult outreach.
Having managed a high achieving Photography Department in an outstanding state school for ten years, I moved on in 2022 to work freelance, facilitating and managing creative programmes with organisations such as The National Portrait Gallery, Four Corners, The Horniman Museum, Bow Arts and The Museum of London. During 2020 I founded FIX FLASH, an educational collective, which offers free photography and music based workshops across London, with a view to making the creative industries more accessible to the wider community.
Since 2018 I have also been a moderator for the Art and Design, AQA exam board.
I can offer a wide range of creative, technical and experimental workshops or 1-2-1 mentoring at all levels. I also provide consultancy for Art & Photography Departments, where I support with bridging the attainment gap and developing curriculum models. I can also offer support to galleries and organisations who are developing accessible and educational programmes.
My own photographic and music practice works with analogue and experimental processes. In 2021, I cofounded record label, MAL Recordings with Jon K, and I host a bimonthly radio show on LYL radio France.
